ABOUT US
Lady Ho Tung Hall is the first and only female residential hall in the University of Hong Kong. Established in 1951, it enjoys rich history and diversified culture. Our hall is located at Jockey Club Student Village I which is conveniently close to the campus. It only takes 5 minutes to walk to the Centennial Campus and 10 minutes to walk to the main campus.
Lady Ho Tung Hall was a 6 floors high block, with a dining hall and a grassland, providing around 100 accomodations. Renovation was carried out in 1998 in response to the demand of beds. Becoming the second largest hall with 404 beds, new building was in effect in 2001.
Participated actively in sports and cultural activities, our hall has over 10 sports teams, namely aquatics, athletics, badminton, basketball, handball, squash, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, hockey and softball teams . Besides, Lady Ho Tung Hall is the only hall in HKU with a complete female lacrosse team. In cultural activities, bridge, debate, drama, dance teams, choir and band are popular amongst our hallmates as well.
As one of the four traditional halls in HKU, Lady Ho Tung Hall celebrates traditions like High Table Dinners, Superpass Dinners and the famous Gong Fight as portrayed in the film City of Glass. Our hall has nurtured many distinguished figures, such as former Chief Secretary for Administration Anson Chan (陳方安生), former president of Legislative Council Rita Fan (范徐麗泰) and director Mabel Cheung etc.
